Why part-time take-home is better than it looks
Because the £12,570 Personal Allowance and the 19% Starter band don't shrink when your hours do, they cover a bigger share of a part-time salary. Someone on 60% hours keeps noticeably more than 60% of the full-timer's take-home. The effect is strongest at modest salaries — one of the few places the tax system quietly favours part-time work.
